MARCELO D. BECCACECI

Marcelo Beccaceci is one of Argentina's foremost conservationists and photographers, whose work focuses on the preservation of endangered South American mammals. A wildlife veterinarian educated at La Plata University, Buenos Aires, Beccaceci is a member of the Species Survival Commission, World Conservation Union (IUCN), Switzerland, and has been also received training at the Smithsonian Institution's Biodiversity Assessment and Monitoring for Adaptive Management program in the US. He has guided expeditions in Patagonia, Iguazú and Iberá for many years. Beccaceci has, as well, been a contributor to Argentina's magazine, Tiempo de Aventura, and other nature and travel publications in-country.

Natural Patagonia / Patagonia natural: Argentina & Chile (1998) is his most recent book for PANGAEA; previously he co-authored Patagonia Wilderness (1991). He also helped produce our Patagonia poster, El fin del mundo / The End of the Earth, illustrated by Argentine wildlife artist Aldo Chiappe. Beccaceci is also editor and publisher of Patagonia & Antartida: Guia de campo / Patagonia & Antarctica: Field Guide; National Parks of Patagonia (Argentina) / Parques nacionales de la Patagonia; Darwin en Patagonia: Un viaje fotogr�fico / Darwin in Patagonia: A Photographic Journey, and Soldados de Noé: La conservación de la fauna silvestre en la Argentina: all published in Argentina.
